Eveland Retreat

The house was perfect to host a group of friends just looking to relax! Access to the lake was easy and close, making it simple to go back and forth between the house. The beds were comfortable, there were plenty of towels, the house was super clean / neat and there was plenty of room to hang out as a group. The only thing we thought was missing was better cookware - specifically pots and pans.

My family of four stayed here with another family of seven. The layout is good with three bedrooms on the first floor and two bedrooms including the bunk room downstairs. Both levels have a living space/tv. Seating inside and out is very comfortable. The lot is fairly level. Parking is ample but can be tricky - it's easy to block each other in. We loved the kayaks and convenience of the lifejackets. The dock had enough space for our pontoon boat and two jet skis. The private community boat launch is just around the corner. The girls loved playing in the shallow water by the steps. Note that the waterfront extends quite a long way to the right looking off the deck. The covered dock for this property is on the right in the photos. Labor Day weekend the water was in the low 90s even though the air temps were 70s. The house is in a little cove, not open to the lake so boat traffic was limited to us and one neighbor and made swimming off the dock safer. Great place for the long weekend with family and friends.

Eveland Retreat was fantastic! Right on the water, and the inside has been totally redone. Multiple gathering areas, a fully stocked kitchen, lovely rooms ... and super clean throughout the house. I will definitely come back here the next time I stay on Lake Anna!

I have stayed in this home twice - once with a group of 6 and once with a group of 10 and it was perfect both times. The space is fully updated but still has a classic lake house feel. There is plenty of seating for the whole group to eat together and there are plenty of small seating sets for games and reading and napping. The lake life is well stocked with kayaks and equipment to have a great time on the lake. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for ourselves every meal. Responsive host to any questions. Easy access to the local grocery store for any forgotten items but tucked away on the lake. Comfortable beds, sheets, and towels!

Overall Experience (5 out of of 5 stars) We would absolutely recommend Eveland Retreat to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway, and we hope to return ourselves next year! We had an incredible stay at Eveland Retreat! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how inviting and well-equipped the space was—everything from the fresh linens to the stocked kitchen made us feel right at home. Thoughtful touches, like extra fans in bedrooms for those that sleep warm and a few communal games provided on the bookshelves, really set this experience apart. We also loved that the house is on a private driveway and in a quiet and secluded cove on the lake. Tall trees surround the house and add privacy. You don't see other houses out the back windows Favorites and Highlights: The house is beautifully decorated and has large windows facing the lake. The main living/dining space and 3 bedrooms have lake views.  Large deck areas offer ample space for relaxing outside, sharing a meal, and grilling. Our kids really loved the bunk bed room. They loved climbing into their own personal nooks at the end of the day, and the personal reading lamps added to each bunk were a nice touch. The foosball table in the basement was a huge hit too—a source of endless entertainment and sibling rivalry. Location (5 out of 5 stars) Eveland Retreat was easy to find and get to—it didn’t require any tricky directions to navigate to. The location was perfect for exploring the lake and we appreciated the quiet, peaceful setting after our busy days. It’s worth noting and being aware that being on the private side of the lake means the water is warmer than the private side (you get used to it). Make sure to check out the Elk Creek Country Store nearby (~8 min, 0.4 mile) for some of the best fried chicken around the lake, cheap gas, and a mini-mart for snacks and fishing bait/tackle. Communication (5 out of 5 stars) Andy was a fantastic host—he communicated promptly and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. He answered the few questions we had quickly. Cleanliness (4.5 out of 5 stars) In general the house was sparkling clean and well taken care of. One thing to note for future guests, as is common with lakefront properties, we did notice a few bugs inside during our stay. It didn’t detract from our overall experience, but it’s something to be aware of, especially if you’re visiting during the warmer months. Andy provided bug spray and brooms, which was much appreciated. Accuracy (4.5 out of 5 stars) The pictures and description of amenities on the listing were true to life and accurate. What you see and read is what you get. The few differences we saw were minor and ultimately didn’t take away from a spectacular experience. The two differences were (1) that the plants and trees around the house are more full and lush (we went in late June) and (2) that the second TV is mentioned in the listing amenities but not shown in the current listing pictures (it’s in the basement but we didn’t end up using it, along with an area rug and additional seating). Check-in (5 out of 5 stars) Not much to say here (in a good way)—check-in was a simple and straightforward process. We received the check-in instructions email and didn’t have any issues with what was provided.
