Peaceful Perch

The home was a beautiful little home with a great view in the back looking down over the lake. The landscaping in the front leading up to the house left a lot to be desired, but it was nice having a fire pit there, or at least it would have been nice had it not been 100 plus degrees nearly every day I was there, but it would certainly by nice to use in cooler months. Of course this is obviously no fault of the owner. Since the front landscaping left something to be desired, I immediately questioned what the house might be like, but I was pleasantly surprised when entering the house. As stated, it was a beautiful little house. It was also nice to find a supply of boardgames to go along with the ping pong table and pool table, and even a couple of puzzles. A few things I was not very pleased with: 1) Although the house was pretty clean overall, there were a few places in which I found cobwebs, mostly in high corners, with an especially large one in the corner over the stairs in the master bedroom upstairs. Every morning when waking and entering the bathrooms, the sinks were full of bugs. I would eliminate them and clean the sink, but the next morning there they were again, all of the sink area. 2) There was no cable for the TV so unless you had a streaming service you could not watch any TV, not even local channels. When paying over $350 per night I expect to be able to watch TV without bringing my own streaming services. And when paying that much per night, it very strongly applies to the next issue… 3) The kitchen was horribly supplied! I admit, I have very high standards when it comes to my kitchen, but when the only cutting board is a small appx. 4” x 6” plastic cutting board, that is no standards at all. I did like the dishes and silverware and there were plenty of them. The pots and pans, and knives were horrible, and I do mean horrible! The glasses, cups, and specialty glasses were barely ok, but the prep dishes for cooking were poor in supply and quality. This being my very first vrbo rental ever, you did make the process of entering the property fairly easy, especially since it was a gated community. I can’t say that I am disappointed with the rental overall, because it was a nice house and in addition to the games etc. mentioned above, there was a nice supply of water items at the dock; however, I was disappointed every time I walked into the kitchen. In future vrbo stays, if driving to my location, I will pack my own knives and cutting boards. According to my research, the Peaceful Perch, was a bit overpriced for what I got compared to other locations. My final comment is that Lauren at kwLakeside Rentals Lake Anna was wonderful to work with. I even stopped by the office on my way out of town to thank her and meet her. Unfortunately, she was not in the office that day. Sincerely, Chris Dailey Louisville, KY HOST RESPONSE: Dear Chris, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback and thoughtful comments. We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Peaceful Perch and had a chance to relax and enjoy Lake Anna. We're especially happy to hear you appreciated the view, games, water equipment, and your interaction with our team. Regarding the landscaping, we agree the front yard had become a bit unruly due to the mix of rain and warm weather this season. It has since been trimmed and refreshed. We’ve also spoken with our cleaning team to ensure cobwebs—especially in high corners—are more thoroughly addressed going forward. While the home is professionally treated for pests, the wooded setting does occasionally bring in unwanted visitors, and we understand that finding bugs in the sink is not the experience we want for our guests. As for the television and internet, we do note in the listing that streaming services are required due to the limited availability of high-speed internet in our rural area. However, we understand this may have been inconvenient and will continue to explore options for improving access. Your feedback on the kitchen setup is especially helpful. There are indeed additional cutting boards and knives, likely relocated by previous guests. We’ll review the storage layout to make items easier to find and are already evaluating upgrades to pots, pans, and prep-ware based on your input. We appreciate your honest feedback and are glad your overall experience was a positive one. We hope you’ll consider staying with us again on your next trip to Lake Anna. Warm regards, The KWLakeside Rentals Team
